Hi. I'm Simon, a London based Front End Web Developer available for contract work.

I have over ten years experience in Front End Development. My in-house and agency experience has enabled me to work on a large varierty of platforms, in many different industries.

I have passion for JavaScript, I am currently moving my skill set towards becoming a full-stack Javascript developer. Last year I completeed the Mongo course for Node.js, M101JS. Most recently I have been exploring GraphQl

I enjoy creating good UX using wireframing and prototyping, to produce the best websites for the business and end users.

Technical

I have worked with a large variety of front end technologies over the years including Bootstrap/Foundation for styling as well as custom CSS solutions in LESS and SASS.

I have used NPM/Bower/Grunt/Gulp for build streams and Angular/React for user interfaces.

I have exposure to Node JS, Mongo GraphQL on the backend.

Travel Republic

JavaScript Engineer
June 2017 - Nov 2018

Responsibilities included creating new features and bug fixing the Angular front end platform that supports Travel Republic, Dnata Travel and Emirates Holidays. I also worked on the CMS written in React, which supports all sites across the platform.

Whilst working at Travel Republic I have seen the company go through an Agile transformation, adopting the Disciplined Agile Delivery framework.

May 2016 - May 2017

Front End Developer (contract) tasked with implementing a complete site redesign on top of the existing legacy codebase.

The project involved two stages. #1 creating a prototype from the designs built on Boostrap/Jade.js for stakeholder sign off. #2 Integrating the prototype into the existing codebase.

Other projects included, building an Angular.js application to integrate a third party Hotel Search.

Front End Developer (contract) for an E-Commerce agency in Shoreditch, London.

Working primarily on the Magento Enterprise platform.

Clients included, international stationary store, Paperchase. Organic fruit and veg boxes, Riverford Farms, and a large shoe retailer based in the Dubai Level Shoes.

Lead Front End Developer for an E-Commerce agency in Richmond, South West London.

I worked on a variety of E-Commerce websites, my primary role involved creating mobile first, responsive Magento websites.

Clients included high-end fashion brand, MIH jeans and world renowned nail products brand OPI.

Front End Developer for a boutique hotel company, Mr & Mrs Smith.

I developed a modular Sass architecture that allows code sharing and theming across the three main websites and various third parties including British Airways, Conde Nast & American Express.

Guinness World Records

Front End Developer
June 2011 - February 2013

Front End Developer for an global world record authority, Guinness World records.

Working as the sole Front End Developer on the main website, www.guinnessworldrecords.com. The main site ran on .Net (Umbraco). Other responsibilities included working on a social video sharing platform using Ruby on Rails.

I also met the world tallest man, Sultan Kosen.
